International Studies Affirm Singapore Students’ Strength in Reading, Mathematics & Science

Minister highlights that our education system must provide opportunities for all our children to excel. 

MOE has invested more in developing well-rounded students who can think creatively and independently. Recent results in TIMMS and PIRLS showed our students doing well in reasoning and critical analysis. 

Second, students now have many more pathways to develop their abilities and interests. At the secondary level, there is a diversity of schools with niches and programmes. There are also more options at the post-secondary level at the polytechnics and ITEs.

Third, the number and quality of our teaching professionals have been raised. Steps have been taken to ensure that experienced principals and skilful teachers will be more evenly distributed across schools.
