My Chinese teacher, Madam Chi King Kiok, has devoted over 50 years to education.

She’s now in her 80s. After retiring in 2008, she continued as a flexi-adjunct teacher, finding joy and meaning in guiding the next generation.

With patience and empathy, she formed close bonds with us and became someone we could trust. Embracing the spirit of lifelong learning, she overcame challenges in adapting to new technology, learning from her younger colleagues and students along the way.

Her advice to the younger generation is to manage time well, use mobile devices wisely, and always stay in control of emotions. Her unwavering dedication continues to inspire many.

When we first joined Deyi, we thought school would just be about lessons and exams. But over time, we realised it was so much more.

One of our favourite memories is the annual track meet. We remember the adrenaline as we stood at the starting line; everyone was there for each other, laughing, running, and encouraging every step.

Time flew past and the Arts Fiesta came. Different CCAs came together to make the Arts Fiesta possible. Behind the scenes, our IT club and various departments ensured a smooth live stream.

To us, Deyi is a place full of energy, creativity, and meaningful connections through our shared experiences.

What’s A School Without Its Bond?

What was louder than our cheer? Our energy. Our pride.

The National School Games was the moment we awaited — one voice, one family, standing proud together.

Each ball that whooshed into the net drew a roar, the stands rising and falling with the game. Beneath the sun, sweat streamed but spirits soared. These were not just matches, but memories etched in laughter, unity, and pride. We are the stands — the cheer behind every score, the shoulder for every loss.

School — a second home, where bonds are forged, friendships built, and community strengthened.

VJC’s community is what leads to the success of school events and every milestone we achieve. The idea of support and family defines our community. Here, success is never individual but shared, with school staff, students, and teachers standing as one.

We support one another through National School Games seasons, celebrations, and times of need. Here, success is celebrated together, every member recognised, every spirit ignited. VJC is more than a school — it is family.
